A fire broke out at a camp set up for the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj this afternoon. Several tents are believed to have been charred due to the Kumbh Mela fire, which was quickly brought under control.
Nobody was killed or injured in the fire.
A cylinder blast is believed to be the cause of the fire. The suspected blast and the fire took place in a tent camp set up by the Digambar Akhada in Sector 16 of Prayagraj.
Fire reached the spot and quickly brought the blaze under control. Earlier visuals from the site of the Kumbh Mela camp fire showed debris and black smoke billowing into the air.
A superintendent of police, who is in charge of security operations at the Kumbh Mela, confirmed that there were no casualties in the Kumbh Mela camp fire. The policeman also told reporters that the fire had been contained.

The Kumbh Mela takes place every six years in Prayagraj, which was earlier known as Allahabad. The Kumbh Mela is a mass pilgrimage that sees Hindu devotees from around the country come to Allahabad or Prayagraj to take a dip in the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna.
