The Perth Scorchers will unveil their second debutant in as many matches against the Sydney Sixers at Optus Stadium tonight.
Exciting allrounder Cameron Green was rewarded for his strong grade form with a Big Bash call-up, replacing the injured Ashton Agar who was ruled out with an ankle injury.
Green is one of three inclusions for the home side, with wicketkeeper Sam Whiteman and paceman Matt Kelly also back.
The 19-year-old is coming off back-to-back unbeaten first grade centuries for Subiaco-Floreat, scoring 117 and 119 not out in the past eight days.
Youngster Aaron Hardie was dropped after just one game, with Will Bosisto also squeezed out.
The Scorchers, who won the toss and elected to bowl first, kept their slim finals hopes alive with a six-wicket win over the Melbourne Stars at the MCG on Wednesday.
The win, led by player-of-the-match Andrew Tye (4-18) and Cameron Bancroft (59 from 42 balls), was only their second win of the tournament.
The Sixers, who knocked off Perth convincingly at the SCG earlier in BBL08, are currently in the top four with a 4-3 record.
It will be Josh Philippe’s first visit to Optus Stadium since he turned his back on the Scorchers in favour of a one-year deal with the men in magenta.
The emerging keeper-batsman has shown glimpses of his enormous potential, with an unbeaten 30 off 15 balls against Adelaide his best performance.
More to come.
