While many will be out painting the town red this New Year’s Eve, some people will prefer staying at home to welcome 2019.
Staying home in your PJs doesn’t have to be boring though – it just means you’ll be really comfy while you’re having fun.
If you’re hosting – or heading to – a party this New Year’s Eve, it’s best to have some party games up your sleeve for when the inevitable tiredness kicks in around 10:30pm.
We’ve put together some quick and easy party game ideas for your New Year’s Eve celebrations:
A classic party game that keeps everyone entertained – and drunk.
Grab some plastic cups, a few ping pong balls, whatever it is you’re drinking and set to work.
People have developed their own rules for beer pong over the years, but the official rules can be found on the World Series Beer Pong Tournament website .
What Do You Meme?
The game taking to world by storm this year – What Do You Meme?
You might be the best at tagging your friends in memes on Facebook, but can you do it in real life? This game pits you against your friends to find out who can make the best pairing with their captions and photographs.
The game of champions, Flip Cup, is not for the feint hearted.
You’ll have to be on the top of your game – and work as a team – to balance and flip your cup from the edge of the table, making sure it lands upside down.
This game works as a relay, so you’ll have to do your part and then watch and see if your team can do theirs – first team to drink and fiip all their cups wins.
Ring of Fire
A game with high stakes – meaning it could be you who has to drink the dirty pint in the middle of the ring.
Place a cup in the centre of the table, lay a deck of cards around it in a circle and begin.
Each card has a rule that must be followed – which you can find here – including one that means whoever picks a king must pour some of their drink into the cup in the centre.
Sounds good right? Until you pick the last king and have to drink whatever is in the cup.
This is ultimately beer pong with a twist.
You play alone rather than in a team and must take turns bouncing a ping pong ball into a plastic cup – and stacking it on top of the previous one.
Don’t forget you have to drink what ever is in the cup first.
The game keeps going until all the cups are gone, which gets more difficult once the cups really start to pile up.
Everything you need to know to play is available here .
You’ve got to be in it to win it with Categories.
It’s simple, until you’re actually playing and the pressure kicks in.
Start with one person choosing a category – such as types of crisp – and go around the room until someone can’t answer the question – and they’re eliminated.
It’s all fun and games until someone repeats an answer – that’s an automatic out too.
We all know the rules to this game – but that doesn’t mean its not super fun to play.
Now you can play it in a giant way and while it is more difficult, its still a barrel of laughs to watch someone bring the tower down.
Find an open space in the living room and get to work on building the perfect Jenga tower.
Who Am I?
Guess Who brought to life.
There are several versions of Who Am I on the market today, including one with an electronic headband that chooses who you’ll be each round.
Instead, many people opt for grabbing some Post Its and coming up with their own ideas – you can even have specific rounds for TV and film characters etc.
Don’t Lose Your Cool
This game tests your ability to stay calm under pressure. One player wears the Cool-O-metre on their head, which measures your heart rate – all while the other players role the dice for a new way to get them flustered.
The aim of the game is to keep your heart rate down, but when your friends take it into their own hands its a whole new game.
A classic – but a classic for a reason.
Give the spinner a whirl and find out which way you’ll have to contort your body – but it’ll be worth it for the win.
You never know what’ll happen in Twister, it could be the easiest game you play all night, or the one where you all end up piled on top of each other because someone slipped.
