The 18-year-old is on loan from Bristol City , and has been in good form for the Welsh outfit this season.
His performances have alerted United, who have had glowing reports from the scouts they assigned to watch Semenyo.
Bristol City’s loan manager Brian Tinnion has revealed United hold an interest in adding the youngster who is on loan at Newport to their ranks in the future.
Tinnion told the Robins On The Wire podcast : “I was sat with a Man United scout at Newport the other week, to be honest, and they really like him.
“People will like him because he’s 18 years of age.
“We’ve got a lot of talent, there’s eight out on loan in the League at the minute and then probably 12 below the league.”
Semenyo has risen through the youth ranks at Bristol City, and made his sole first team performance in his debut for the club last season.
The London-born forward – who has also had a loan stint at Bath City – came on as a second half substitute in the final day 3-2 loss to Sheffield United.
He has made 18 appearances for Newport so far this season, scoring three goals in the process.
