Juan Foyth

FULL-TIME: CRYSTAL PALACE 0-1 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR | FOYTH 66′

90+2: CLOSE! Spurs break quickly from Palace’s corner and Son has a chance to end things but his effort is deflected out for a corner. Time-wasting opportunity.

90+1: CHANCE! Sortloth bears down on goal but his effort is straight at Lloris!

90: There will be five minutes of added time.

89: There’s a lot of pressure without any end product from Palace, time running out.

85: It’s all getting a bit tasty – that Lamela injury, for some reason, seems to have geed up Palace and they are piling on the pressure.

82: TOTTENHAM SUB – Winks for Lamela.

Erik Lamela

80: MAN DOWN! Lamela is crashed in the face by Schlupp’s studs – accidentally – and is being taken off.

78: Trippier is watching from the stands – you’d hope that means his earlier injury isn’t too serious.

75: Sorloth breaks with intent and plays it wide to Schupp, but the Premier League winner’s ball is intercepted by Lloris.

72: TOTTENHAM SUB – Son for Lucas Leiva.

Paul Foyth

71: CRYSTAL PALACE SUBS – Sortloth and Schlupp for Meyer and McArthur.

70: Spurs have their tails up now and look threatening on the counter-attack, which is just cut short by Leiva’s being offside.

It’s the youngster! Spurs have a corner on the left and Lamela whips in an inviting cross. After a bit of pinball, it pops up for Foyth who shows composure to head home in the crowded box.

Dele Alli, Mauricio Pochettino

62: After a patchy second half, Lloris sweeps out of his goal and mops up an inviting through ball.

60: CRYSTAL PALACE SUB – Kelly for Tomkins.

55: Lloris looks all over the shop. The Frenchman just hammers ball into traffic just outside of his area, and luckily gets away with it.

54: CHANCE! Tomkins rose highest at the backpost from a corner and gets a good connection, but heads just wide. Few expletives in his reaction.

Hugo Lloris

50: CLOSE! Palace almost find the breakthrough after Lloris flaps at a corner and invites a goalmouth scramble. Spurs eventually clear their lines.

49: Still very much PG this game, let’s hope for some bangs and crashes in the second half.

46: Spurs get us started in the second half.

WE ARE BACK UNDERWAY

Victor Wanyama

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham LIVE: Victor Wanyama has been impressive for Spurs so far (Image: Getty)

18:25: We are informed of this by @SpursStatMan…

“Moussa Sissoko completed 12 attacking-third passes in the first half vs. Crystal Palace – twice as many as any other Tottenham player.”

Meanwhile, Sam Allardyce reckons Roy Hodgson will be happy with that first-half performance, and that balls over the top are the way to go.

Not like Big Sam, that.

Statistics

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham LIVE: Half-time stats (Image: Google)

Nothing too call home about, but this has generally been the state of play here in South London this season.

HALF-TIME: Crystal Palace 0-0 Tottenham

43: If you’re only in it for the goals, then keep the faith. We are told that 25 of the last 26 goals in this fixture have come in the second half.

42: CHANCE! Lucas Leiva runs on quickly to a cross from the right but heads way over.

Dele Alli, Jordan Ayew

39: To be fair to the Palace fans, they’re having a right good go at getting behind their team. There hasn’t been much to shout about from either side, but the atmosphere is bouncing, despite the rain. Must be the ponchos.

37: Incredible audacity from Lloris and Wanyama – the former passing it to the Kenyan with two Palace players approaching. Wanyama cooly dummies and leaves the two attackers out of the game, however.

34: Spurs are growing into the game more – they are the aggressors but without much punch.

30: SAVE! Kane makes Hennessey work for the first time in the game, unleashing a piercing effort from 25 yards, which the keeper parries away.

Harry Kane

28: Speaking of chances, Alli has a good one there from a cross by Davies. The Englishman stands still and heads back across the goal – perhaps for Kane at the backpost – but he should have put more into it and gone for goal.

27: Van Aanholt deals with the ball in, heading clear. Shame about the lack of chances so far.

26: Wan-Bissaka has been impressive so far, but fouls Davies wide on the left. Chance for Spurs to whip one in.

24: TOTTENHAM SUB – Aurier for Trippier. Small stoppage in play as Trippier stays on the ground, seemingly with a knock.

Ben Davies

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham LIVE: All a bit scrappy so far (Image: Getty)

21: Kane gets dispossessed after a quick take-on, he’s been very quiet so far.

20: Sissoko weaves his way through Palace’s defence and finds an angle from 12 yards out, but Sakho puts his body on the line and blocks the shot.

17: Foyth does look a bit shaky – the centre-back just passed the ball out of play when trying to play a simple ball to Lloris.

16: Townsend runs in behind, bullying Foyth off the ball and unleashes an effort which just evades the near post.

Jordan Ayew, Juan Foyth

13: CHANCE! Kouyate was poised for an effort from point blank range, but Lucas – who was for some reason lingering in his box – managed to clear it away from the midfielder.

11: Sakho – who perennially looks like he is about to give the ball away but never does – heads Trippier’s cross away for a corner, which comes to nothing.

08: The young Foyth brings out the ball from defence and sprays a pinpoint ball out to the flanks – hard to see the receiver in the rain. Nice to see confidence in the 20-year-old.

07: Ayew gives Alderweireld a good nudge in the back and wins a corner – you get the feeling he’ll try to roughen up the novice Foyth soon, too.

Mauricio Pochettino

04: Alli gets a chance to play in the in-form Lamela, but his ball goes awry.

03: Spurs make their inentions clear early doors, playing out from the back under pressure. Davies draws a fortuitous foul from Townsend.

01: The home side get us underway, attacking left to right.

KICK-OFF

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham LIVE: Selhurst Park under the lights… It’s all g’arn on (Image: Getty)

17:25: We will observe a minute’s silence before the game to remember the fallen war heroes of the past.

Nevertheless, ‘Glad All Over’ is belted out over the tannoys, as is the terrifically corporate Premier League anthem.

Not long now, good atmosphere under the lights.

Before we look forward, though, time to remember.

MAURICIO POCHETTINO INTERVIEW

Fairly sedate stuff from the Argentine manager, who laughed when posed with the fact that Spurs love playing away from Wembley – they have won six of their seven away games in the Premier League this season.

“The Watford game was a very comfortable victory in first half but in the end we lost the game. But we are doing very well away from home, nevertheless,” Pochettino said.

“But of course it’s so important to win and keep our good position in the table.”

Wilfried Zaha

ROY HODGSON INTERVIEW

The Eagles manager confirms that Wilfried Zaha is out with a hamstring injury, and believes his side can take heart from their loss to Chelsea last weekend.

Wilfried is injured, he picked up a hamstring strain in training and I was warned he wouldn’t be ready and that is the case.

“They are a very good team, they’ve got such enormous firepower. They’ve got so many players that can score a goal.

“What we can do is frustrate them and take our chances, like we almost did against Chelsea.”

17:00: Just 30 minutes until kick-off now – the question is, are you ready for a stat attack?

  • Crystal Palace have lost their last six Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur, scoring just one goal across those matches
  • Crystal Palace are winless in their five Premier League home games this season – their longest such run at the start of a league season since 1997-98 (winless in first 15)
  • Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has won eight Premier League games against Crystal Palace – against no side has he won more (also eight against Swansea City)

Harry Kane

16:50: Former Palace manager Sam Allardyce his on the BT Sport coverage and has piled in with what’s going wrong for the club this season

“I see the games that they’ve played and they’re an equal match to the opposition, but they can’t finish them off,” said Big Sam.

He then went on ruffle a few feathers with his outlandish comment of: “Hopefully it will be a really good match, we’re all looking forward to it.”

More from the big man and Jermaine Jenas to come.

Otherwise, Palace are unchanged, with Jordan Ayew the man in for their talisman.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have made two changes – Victor Wanyama and Dele Alli come in for Harry Winks and Mousa Dembele.
